January 15, 1970 culminated the 30 months of war (1967-70) and many years of national crisis for the newly independent Nigeria. It ushered in peace but left deep pains for those who witnessed the carnage.
For 50 year, these stories have been bottled up or shared in hushed whispers. For the first time in half a century, many of the victims have agreed to share their stories on video. This documentary is their story. These are their voices.
This story is important because it is part of the healing process. The pain cannot be swept under the carpet. We must seek ways to move forward.
Watch the trailer for the 80-minute documentary. The full documentary will be released on January 15, 2020.
