ETINOSA VS THE QURAN

Comedian and actress, Etinosa has threatened to use the Quran as ashtray if someone pays her to do it. She recently smoked with the bible and the peace of Lagos was not disturbed, but if she dares to desecrate or disrespect the Quran, a religious war that defies tribe and skin colour might befall her, her followers and our dear Lagos State.

Chief Imam of Ansar-Ud-Deen, Abdulrahman Ahmad has reacted to the actress’ actions promising repercussions “It is a collective insult on Nigerians as a deeply religious community. I condemn whoever desecrates the Bible and Quran. There are consequences for any of these actions. If the law enforcement agencies don’t act on unwarranted provocation; then they should also not act when the repercussions start to come”

And what can this repercussion be. Under Sharia, those who insult Muhammad or Allah are to be executed. So are those who desecrate the Quran or commit other acts of blasphemy. This tradition began with Muhammad, as recorded in the Hadith and by his biographers.

Lets bring this home, 2 months ago, The Zamfara State Governor, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawallen suspended all the staff of Shatima Model Primary School, Tudun Wada, Gusau in Zamfara state following the alleged desecration of the Holy Qur’an in the sewage of the school. The governor also ordered for the indefinite closure of the school and directed the state Universal Basic Education Board (SBEB) to immediately recruit and post three additional security men to all the public primary school in Gusau, the state capital.

To further score the sensitivity of the matter, Governor Matawalle also directed security agencies and relevant Shariah Implementation bodies to immediately set up a committee that will investigate the unholy act of abuse meted against the Muslims’ Holy book, promising to deal ruthlessly and mercilessly with any body found to have had a hand in abusing the Qur’an.

If Etinosa gets paid to Ash on the Quran, she would have opened a door to a crisis of monumental proportions, that she would need asylum to protect herself.

We must know where to draw the lines when we are looking for attention on social media. We are a deeply religious country and unlike Christians the Muslims revere the Quran spiritually and will avenge the desecration, lets be guided.
