2019 has been a really big year musically for African artistes, especially Nigerian artistes and we are really happy about that.
But as a music critic, the year can not end without me ranking my top 10 artistes in Nigeria. This chart took me over a week to out together because it is a really tough one.
p.s Ranking is based on hit songs and popularity of each artiste in the year 2019.
Burnaboy - I don't think anyone should have a problem with him being on the top of the list! common he is grammy nominated now.
Naira Marley - He is undisputedly the biggest revelation of the year! I don't know how else to convince you that he deserves this spot than to say - Marlians come forward the rest $#&* off
Davido - He has had quite a good run, from selling out concert venues to big international collaborations and releasing his sophomore album which ranked number one on several charts across the world including Nigeria.
Tiwa Savage - Her career took a lift off for the year after she signed with motown/Universal records. Her first official single 49-99 has been on top charts all over the world and don't forget she's also having her first headlined show this year.
REMA - Discovered by D' Prince and currently signed to Mavin Records, Remy boy has done more than we expected from him since his break out!. He has given us two extended playlists and several hits. Keep flying boy!
Zlatan Ibile - Off course, this list can not be complete without mentioning the artiste that single handedly 'faded' shaku - shaku and introduced a dance after his own name (first of its kind). Mr Zanku had a great year too.
Wizkid - In 2018, Wiz would have been top of this list but then, i wouldn't know what exactly is happening to him this year. But he still gave us some vibes and yes starboy fest in london gave us chills too.
Fireboy DML - A king i stan! Hit after hit he has never disappointed. His album would be fire too i believe. keep the fire burning lad.
Joe Boy - The newest Mr Eazi recruit. Great song writer, good performer and the ladies man. He has had a good year so far. Well done boy.
T CLASSIC - Classical boy shouldn't be under rated anymore! he has three hits to his name this year. Enough said, he deserves to be here.
