The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will, on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, commence three weeks Orientation Course programme for the 2019 Batch “C” Stream I graduates mobilized for the national service.
Thousands of university, polytechnics and monotechnics trained locally and whose names appear in the Senate/Academic Board Approved Result lists submitted by their institutions and their foreign-trained counterparts and those who acquired on-line qualifications already evaluated by the Federal Ministry of Education are registered and mobilized for the exercise that will commence on Tuesday 5th through Tuesday 26th, 2019.
As orientation camps open on Tuesday across the country, registration of prospective corps members is expected to continue till the midnight of Wednesday and followed by official swearing-in and commencement of orientation training on Thursday, November 7th, 2019.
The estimated 300, 000 corps members mobilized annually for the national youth service year apart from their counterparts trained by recognized institutions abroad are drawn from the existing 43 Federal and 52 states Universities and 79 that constituted the private Universities sector.
Others include 29 Federal, 48 states, 55 private polytechnics, and Institutes of Technologies, among others.
The National Youth Service Corps year comprises four main segments in which every Corps Members must satisfactorily participate before he/she is qualified to be issued a certificate of National Service.
The service year comprises of Orientation Courses, Primary Assignment and Community Development Service and Winding-Up/Passing-out.
The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim had in a statement congratulated all eligible youth for mobilization into the scheme, adding “NYSC wishes you journey mercies to your various Orientation Camps”.
