The Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s closure of the country’s land borders was for the interest of the nation. Omo-Agege also claimed that the action was in the best interest of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele says if border closure is sustained for the next two years, issue of insurgency, banditry and kidnapping will be totally eradicated. Emefiele stated this at the first Convocation Lecture of Edo University, Iyamho, Auchi on Friday.

The Kano State Government has approved the death penalty for anyone found guilty of kidnapping across the state. Governor Abdullahi Ganduje gave the order while receiving the nine children who were abducted from Kano and sold in Anambra State.

The Anambra State Government has restricted the movement of tankers laden with petroleum products to nighttime. The state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Don Adinuba, announced this in a statement on Friday.
Adinuba said fuel tankers would henceforth operate from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. in the state. He said this is as a result of the incessant collapse of trucks carrying petroleum products in the state, including the latest which happened in Onitsha on Thursday.

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu has disclosed that mothers of suspected internet scammers, popularly known as ‘Yahoo Boys’, are now organizing themselves into an association. He said such parents often justified their children’s activities by arguing that they were supporting their families “in the place of irresponsible, runaway or dead fathers.”

An Igbo Socio-cultural group, Ndigbo United Forum (NUF) says actualising Nigeria’s president of Igbo extraction is possible in 2023. The group said that it has commenced activities with a view of sensitizing Nigerians and building blocks across political, ethnic and religious lines aimed at actualising the project.

No fewer than fifteen victims have been rescued from an illegal spiritual healing centre at the Isheri Osun area of Ijegun in Lagos State by the police. Known as the ”Blessings of Goodness Healing Church,” the centre is said to habour about twenty victims, some of whom have been in chains since 2014.

The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has told Justice Binta Nyako to take her family to the nearest prison to avoid being kidnapped. Kanu, whose case against the federal government is being presided over by Nyako had on Thursday appealed to the Judge to guaranty his safety for him to return to Nigeria and continue with his trial but was denied by the court.

Hushpuppi’s Instagram account used to read “The Billionaire Gucci Master“ but now reads “Real Estate Developer.”

The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria on Friday lost out 1-2 to Australia in the third match at the 2019 U-17 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Despite the loss, the five-time World Cup winners topped the Group B standings with six points and were already through to the round of 16 before the tie.
