You Can’t Be A Judge in Your Own Case….. Police React to Arrest of Girls By Davido’s Gangs

The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has reacted to a video showing the two ladies who pranked superstar, Davido on pregnancy handcuffed.

The video showed Edward Ijah, popularly known as Special Spesh, who is the sidekick Davido commanding the girls who were avoiding the camera to look up risked being slapped. So, they quickly complied.

Bala Elkana, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, has faulted Spech over the action.

Spesh, who is also the Director of Corporate Sponsorship for Davido subsequently told them they were in trouble for “deformation (sic) of character.”

Davido, also posted a smiley of laughter in the comment section.

Don’t judge

The force spokesman said it was wrong of Davido and his team to take the law into their own hands. Although, he said that a citizen can arrest another person and hand over to the police immediately, adding that no citizen had the right to parade another citizen.

“Even if someone defamed your character, you are to hand over the person to the police immediately but to parade them is wrong. The person being paraded has the right to sue. Private citizens have no right to parade another person.
“Not all policemen even have the power to parade suspects,” he explained.

“You cannot be a judge in your own case. If he feels aggrieved, he should lodge a complaint and not go to effect an arrest. He cannot conclude the guilt of another person. There must be an investigation and only a court can pronounce them guilty.”
