Mr Badeh, a resigned air boss marshal, was shot dead along the Abuja-Keffi street.
The aviation based armed forces affirmed the passing in two or three tweets on its official Twitter handle.
"It is with a substantial heart that I remorsefully report the heartbreaking end of previous Chief of Defense Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, who passed on today, 18 Dec 18, from shot injuries supported when his vehicle was assaulted while coming back from his homestead along Abuja-Keffi Road.
"For sake officers, pilots and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Abubakar, sympathizes with the group of the late previous Chief of Defense Staff over this unsalvageable misfortune. We ask that the Almighty God allows his spirit unceasing rest."
The substance of the tweet was later sent to Speakersden by the flying corps representative, Ibikunle Daramola, an air commodore.
Mr Badeh before his demise was being arraigned for claimed N3.9 billion extortion while in office amid the Goodluck Jonathan organization.
